Illinois IDEA HS Awarded Year Funding

At the June 3, 2008 meeting of the Illinois Board of Higher Education funding for the third year of the Illinois Innovative Delivery of Education Alliance: Homeland Security (Illinois IDEA HS) was approved.  The funding was 86% of the amount requested in the proposal submitted earlier this spring.

Gov. Blagojevich announces launch of courses developed by state universities to promote careers in Homeland Security.  NIU receives $75,000 in state funding to develop core courses.

Western Illinois University

The Illinois Board of Higher Education approves two new homeland security degrees at Western Illinois University. WIU now offers an emergency management degree and a degree in telecommunications management. Graduates of these programs will be prepared to coordinate disaster response and crisis management activities, as well as provide disaster preparedness training.
